Online Roulette Variations: European Roulette

The most critical variation of roulette is European roulette as opposed to American roulette. In an American roulette wheel, a zero and a double zero are possible. European roulette wheels only have the single zero. European wheels are favorable because the zeroes are where the house gets its edge in roulette.

Online Roulette Variations: French Roulette

On a French roulette table, the designations on the felt are in French. However, since numbers look the same and most other bets are self-explanatory, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem for non-French speakers. Just remember that rouge is red, noir is black, pair is even and impair is odd.

French roulette tables may offer the en prison and la partage rules. In en prison, an even money bet that loses to a zero can be recouped if the player wins the next spin. In la partage, the player has the option to forfeit half his bet if this situation occurs or go for the en prison spin. Both rules are favorable to the player. They reduce the house edge and should be sought out by any player who enjoys playing even money bets (red/black, odd/even) at least some of the time during his or her online roulette experience.
